Below are the “Happenings” we have received for August - October.  We are interested in listing the events of all non-profit organizations in Beverly Shores.  We encourage each organization to send specific information to mwmetzcus@yahoo.com so its events can be included in this column.  There's a lot happening in Beverly Shores in 2008.  So mark your calendar to save these dates, and please check this column every month!

 

AUGUST 2008

 

Sunday, August 3                      DEPOT MUSEUM:  CLASS REUNION,

11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.                           BEVERLY SHORES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

                                             1931 – 1980, 50 years

                                             All are welcome:  residents, friends, members and

                                                graduates of all classes.  Exhibit featuring the Beverly

                                                Shores Elementary School continues through August 24.

Saturday, August 16              POLICEMEN'S BALL

8:00 p.m. - Midnight               Annual celebration and fundraiser for the Beverly Shores

                                                Police force.  Live music by “Spellbound”.  Food                                                    

provided by Smokey's on Hwy. 20.  Held in front of the

Fire Station on Broadway.  For further information, Bob

Sunday, August 17                 DEPOT GALLERY:  EXHIBIT OPENING

                                             & RECEPTION FOR DUNCAN WEBB

11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.            Paintings of Duncan Webb will be on exhibit

                                                August 15 – September 7.  Event coordinators and new

Sunday, August 31                 DEPOT MUSEUM:  OPENING

11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.              “Legends of Beverly Shores”:  Return to

                                             Lenard's Casino. 

                                             Exhibit features Lenard's Casino, a beachfront

                                             restaurant and resort hotel, 1938-68.  It later

                                             became the Red Lantern Inn.  Event Coordinators:

                                             Carol Ruzic (872-1060) and Carl Reed (874-8000).

                                             Architectural Historical District. 

                                             Exhibit features updated displays as

                                             renovations continue on the 1933 World's

                                             Fair houses relocated here in 1935.  Event
